I am a transfer student from China. I've been here for almost two years. I study Agricultural Business Management in ALES faculty. I am in forth year in U of A. Actually, I studied business administration in my home university in China. I decided to change my major before I came here because I wanted to know more about agriculture.
I enjoy my life here a lot. In the past two years, I made many friends here. My friends are from different countries around the world. The pity is that some of my friends are back in their home country now, and they are not going back. I think the memory will last long. I miss the time spent with them. I will cherish it. Also, I need to mention the funny courses I took. Here I'd like to share my happiness with you guys.
I took Animal Science last term. In that course, we were divided into several groups. We need to explore combs and the mating behaviour of chickens. My group chose to do filming and make a video to explain why some roosters combs are more attractive than others. My group put a lot effort in this video. I act as a hen called Judy in this video. We really got close to each other after this video. Cool! This video is humorous. Watch it, you will like it !
I did CSL before in AREC173. I think it opened up a new world to students. My CSL partner is Marc. He is the General Manager of Student Union. During the project, we found that healthy eating on campus is difficult. Food on campus are not healthy. Food companies were trying to hide information of daily value of nutrients people need less.(i.e. soldium, fat). In this project, we collected information of food items on campus, and calculated daily value of nutrients that people need less. I did presentation. After presentation, Marc told me he would highlight part of my analysis and post it. Students deserved to know this information. I learned a lot from CSL. It provided me a good chance for me to communicate with public. During this project, I interviewed a few food companies. Also, I interviewed professors Anders and students who is in nutrition major. I built my confidence to communicate with English speakers. Also, I learned a lot useful nutrition knowlodge. Here is the link of the photos that I was in CSL.
To be honest, I was afraid of this course before. A lot of my friends told me this course was pretty difficult because there were a lot public speaking in this course. As an intewnational student, my poor English could be a problem. On first day classroom, I was so nevous. I was trying to tell myself "Your name is Shuhuai. You should use your happiness power to overcome English problem.". Soon, I felt relaxed. Now I am totally in love with this course. I find that this course is pretty funny. I have my own facebook, but I don't have twitter and blog. This course provides me a great opportunity to use these two social media tools. I feel free to use these two tools to share my happiness with my friends. Cool! By the way, nowadays, twitter and blog are becomming more and more popular in China. If I don't have account for twitter and blog, I think I am sort of out. I am getting to know more people in the class. I want to know them more on twitter and blog.
